CMC Electronics (Stand B19, Hall 5) is to act as prime contractor on the modernisation of the navigation systems and flight instruments of the Lockheed Martin CP-140 Aurora patrol aircraft, pictured right, operated by the Canadian Forces. The company will also act as systems integrator and avionics management systems supplier on the $38 million programme.

"We are very proud that the Canadian Government has chosen our product as the most technically advanced and cost-effective solution," says CMC Electronics chief executive Jim Close. "The decision will help us to bid for other contracts Lockheed Martin P-3 programmes." The CP-140 is a P-3 derivative.

"The global P-3 upgrade market is estimated at over a billion dollars," he continues. "This award, coupled with our contract to supply the US Customs Service with flight management system for their P-3 surveillance aircraft, puts us in a good position to secure an important share of the world market."
