The Australian government has launched an Australian Aerospace Industry Forum of aerospace companies to act as a single voice to represent the country’s aerospace industry, and address “market access and development, promote Australia’s aerospace capability, promote national aerospace research and development and, in conjunction with Manufacturing Skills Australia will address education, training and skills development issues”, says industry minister Ian Macfarlane. The 2003 Aerospace Industry Action Agenda set a target for the aerospace industry to increase annual exports fivefold by 2012 to A$3.5 billion ($2.6 billion).
