After five months of negotiations, American Utilicraft has signed a purchase agreement with Brisbane, Australia-based Global Air Group for 100 FF-1080 Freight Feeders, in a deal valued at $1.2 billion including spares and support (Flight International, 6-12 July). Progress payments for the construction of the production aircraft will begin following first flight of the FF-1080 prototype, which is due in mid-November 2005, says the manufacturer. The production FF-1080 will be the -300 version, which is designed for the expanding international freight feed market, and will be used by Global Air Group to support its Europe and Africa Boeing 747 freight operations.
