Star Alliance carrier Austrian Airlines plans to become the first Western carrier to operate scheduled services to Iraq. It intends to fly to the city of Erbil in the northern Kurdistan region from March. The carrier plans to operate twice-weekly Airbus A319 services between Vienna and Erbil from March.
