Leading CAD-CAM software developer Delcam is demonstrating its latest five-axis machining capability. A new automated option for Delcam’s acclaimed PowerMILL CAM system offers faster programming of five-axis machining of bladed disks (blisks), blades and impellers, says the UK company.
Typically, the new option will allow even complex blisks and impellers to be programmed in around 30min, compared with the many hours of work that would have been needed previously.

The CAM program is easy to use and intuitive. Based on operator input, It calculates the types of toolpath needed to machine the item with prompts if the selected parameters do not work.
To further speed the calculation times, if the blades are evenly spaced, PowerMILL will automatically count the number of blades and produce a complete set of toolpaths in a single operation.
