Clarion Events announced Tuesday that the event planner is bringing a new conference, called Unmanned Air Systems, that will be held in June 2012.
The three-day event, which will be supported by AUVSI, will be located near to Abbey Wood in Greater London and will run annually. Clarion officials said the need for the UK and Europe to have an unmanned systems event of its own was evident from some research.
"What is needed is an event that provides focus, coordination and a litany of industry leaders," says Wayne Crawford, vice president of North America for Clarion.
If the planners can pull it off, the conference will also include a fourth flying day at the Royal Air Force's ParcAberporth station. This would be a continuation of sorts of prior unmanned flying days at ParcAberporth, which ended in 2008.
"AUVSI is happy to support this reinvention of the former ParcAberporth event and work with Clarion to build a strong program for the community."
Clarion also announced that it is launching a US version of a UK conference, the Counter Terror Expo. Slated for Washington, D.C., May 16-17, it will feature a live ground robotics demostration area, akin to the one on the AUVSI conference's exhibit floor.
