Aviall Web site takes lead in aviation sector

One exhibitor that has managed to turn the dream of e-commerce into a working reality is Texas-based Aviall (Stand A911).

Aviall is the world's largest independent distributor of new aviation parts, distributing to 13,000 operators and 300 airlines worldwide. It was the first aviation distributor to offer electronic services over the Internet in 1996.

Since then, aviall.com has become a great success - so much so that it was named a top e-business performer by Information Week in the magazine's recent first annual e-Business 100 programme. Aviall was selected from more than 400 nominated companies.

Electronic services

"As the first independent aviation distributor to offer electronic services over the Internet we utilise technology to provide value-added services to our customers and suppliers," says Eric E Anderson, Aviall's president and chief executive officer.

"Recent improvements to our Internet-based parts quoting and order entry system offer valuable electronic commerce features not available on any other parts distribution Web site in the aviation industry," he says.

Aviall customers have the ability to use aviall.com to create part quotes in real-time, process multi-line orders, search for parts and track shipments electronically.

They also receive electronic order acknowledgement and shipping confirmation. Customers have access to download, print or view Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) online.

Aviall.com is compatible with all Internet browsers, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world.
