AVIAREPS, THE UK-based airline representation group, has acquired a Boeing 737-300 from GE Capital Aviation Services for use in the Portuguese market where it has no link-up with a local airline.
The aircraft, contracted out to tour operators throughout Europe, is based in Portugal and is flown by Icelandic wet-lease specialist Air Atlanta on a three-year operating lease, which includes the third year as an option. The complete cost of the operation is being underwritten by Aviareps.
The company is exploring the feasibility of accessing other holiday markets, where it is not now represented, by leasing more aircraft in the future. According to Hal Gamble, Aviareps chairman, it could enter the Greek market in 1996, with Turkey offering opportunities in the longer term.
