Florida is flying the flag for its already sizeable aviation sector which boasts more than 2,600 companies employing 63,000 people.

The effort is being engineered at Paris by Enterprise Florida, a pioneer organisation set up to replace the previous public-sector Department of Commerce in the state.

Mark Diaz, director of the Enterprise's European office says the aerospace sector in the sunshine state covers a broad range of activities - including aircraft and aircraft equipment, engines and parts, guided missiles and space vehicles, space vehicle propulsion and parts and space vehicle equipment.

Statistics issued by Enterprise Florida show the state's aerospace manufacturing employment is almost twice as high as manufacturing employment in the rest of the US.

This demonstrates that Florida provides better industry support, clustering potential, higher growth possibilities, and more outsourcing opportunities to companies than other States.
