In response to complaints that the government is doing too little for China's interior, Aviation Industries of China has agreed to shift the planned assembly site of the AE31X from Shanghai to Xian. But there are doubts over the continued participation of Singapore Technologies, with reports suggesting it is concerned about delays and its exact role in the project. Separately, Avic plans to lay off 150,000 workers - nearly a quarter of its employees - as part of the wider restructuring of state enterprises.
