ROCKWELL-Collins Series 900 avionics sensors have been certificated on the Boeing 747-400. Approval on the Boeing 777 is scheduled for April 1995 and certification efforts are under way on the 757 and 767, Collins says.

The Series 900 product line covers VHF communication and navigation, high frequency and satellite communications, data-link, Mode S transponder, traffic alert and collision avoidance, instrument-landing system, radar altimeter and weather radar.

Units are interchangeable with Collins' Series 700 products, the new equipment having improved reliability, increased "real-world" environmental tolerance and providing required FM-immunity protection. The company says that 11 airlines have selected Series 900 equipment.
