Avro has delivered the 300th RJ/BAe 146 airframe, with the handing over of the second of three RJ85s for Azzurra Air of Italy. Meanwhile, Avro is understood to be in negotiations with Uzbekistan Airways on an order for three RJ85s, with deliveries scheduled for 1997. Total orders for the RJ stand at 105, of which 77 have been delivered. Avro expects 1996 RJ deliveries to total 26 aircraft, with around 21 due for delivery in 1997. The 300-aircraft milestone comes some 15 years into the programme, and makes it the most successful UK-designed commercial jet-powered airliner by a considerable margin.
