The fatal crash of a Rockwell International B-1B bomber in Montana on 19 September was caused by pilot error, says the US Air Force. The B-1B assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, had been on a low-level defensive countermeasures and simulated bombing training mission. The accident investigation report concludes that the accident occurred while the aircraft was slowing down and turning sharply.
