Lufthansa has selected B/E Aerospace to outfit its new-buy Airbus A330s and retrofit A340s with new business class seating.
B/E estimates the contract's value at roughly $100 million. Flightglobal's ACAS database shows Lufthansa operates 15 A330-300s and has three on order. The carrier currently operates 26 A340-300s and 24 A340-600s.
The latest award builds on an agreement reached between B/E and Lufthansa in February of 2010. At that time B/E said it had been awarded business by an unnamed airline for the supply of seats for a new widebody aircraft type and to retrofit certain existing widebodies operated by the carrier with first class seats.
B/E has now revealed Lufthansa as that carrier, and the company is supplying first and business class seats on the airline's 747-8s. B/E also values that existing contract at $100 million.
