Alastair Cumming, managing director of British Airways Engineering, has been awarded a Doctor of Science Degree from the City University, London, UK. At the award ceremony, his significant contribution to the success of his department and that of British Airways was cited. Among his previous management positions was that of manufacturing director of the Rolls-Royce Military Engines division. He joined BA in 1984 as director of engineering.
