British Airways plans to axe more than a third of its 1,715 management positions by March 2008 to cut costs. Under the move, BA plans to halve the number of its senior managers to 207 and cut by 30% middle management positions, to 911. In total, the company plans to axe 597 management positions through the initiative. BA says the proposed cuts will save the airline £50 million ($85.6 million) as part of its drive to complete a £300 million cost-reduction programme by March 2007.
