British Airways is to embark on a review of its long-haul fleet requirements for the next 15 years, which could see it in a position to place orders within the next two to three years.
BA chairman Martin Broughton told shareholders at the airline’s annual meeting last week that BA is eyeing the long-range 250-seat Boeing 787 as well as the Boeing 747 Advanced and the 777-200LR as possible long-haul candidates. The Airbus A350 is unlikely to be adopted as a “principal” long-haul aircraft, said Broughton.
He added that “the jury is still out” on the A380, as it is not yet in service, but the aircraft is “very much on our radar screen”.
