A consortium including British Airways and UK Transport group National Express has been selected to take control of the UK division of Eurostar International which runs high-speed rail services between London, Paris and Brussels through the Channel Tunnel. The Virgin Group, the parent of Virgin Atlantic was also competing for the contract. BA will market the rail services and plans to extend the line to London Heathrow by 2001 to create an integrated transport hub.
