Low cloud base, driving rain and awful visibility meant that yesterday's flying display was cancelled – more because nobody could see the aircraft, rather than the aircraft being unable to fly. When it became apparent that the only visible part of the soon-to-be-displayed Panavia Tornado GR-4 would be its glowing afterburners on take-off, the organisers decided that enough was enough and called the show off until today. It is relatively unusual for a flying display to be cancelled – even in England in summertime! However, most of yesterday's display had already taken place when the weather closed in. Let's hope that the skies clear for today's flying extravaganza.
