Bombardier. The aerospace giant faces complications over plans to axe 645 jobs at its Belfast plant in Northern Ireland, forced by the downturn in regional jet orders. New UK anti-age discrimination legislation means the company may have to alter its redundancy terms, covered by an agreement set in 1989. Trade union Amicus says: "We would like the company to introduce a fair redundancy scheme that would reflect the service that employees have given over the years."
