British Aerospace has acquired fixed-base operator Farnborough Business Aviation (FBA) from the receivers. Formerly called Carroll Aircraft, the company's base is adjacent to BAe's UK headquarters in Farnborough.

Carroll had gone into receivership because of property investment losses by its owners - ironically, near BAe's now closed Hatfield aerospace factory and airfield.

BAe says that its own business-aviation support needs can be met by FBA, but that is not the reason for the acquisition. The company explains that there are "certain leasing arrangements" with which it can safeguard its own future interests at Farnborough. The airfield is being sold by the UK Ministry of Defence amid concern over its future use.

BAe has confirmed that FBA's former operation will continue using existing resources.
