The government of central Asian republic Kazakhstan is working with BAE Systems to set up a new domestic airline by early next year. Air Astana will initially operate Boeing 737-200s. BAE is hoping to secure infrastructure and defence deals in Kazakhstan, which is emerging as the business hub for central Asia.
