BAE Systems signed a non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with PZL Mielec yesterday, detailing the work to be allocated to the Polish company in the event of a Hawk sale to Poland.

The Hawk is understood to be one of the front-runners in the ongoing Polish air force competition for a new-generation training system, to prepare pilots for the Lockheed Martin F-16 and any other new generation aircraft which enter service with Poland.

BAE says local participation could include final assembly of Hawks at PZL's Mielec plant.
