Bahrain completed negotiations at the show on 21 January on a long-standing deal for nine Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, according to the commander of the air force Gen Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulla al-Khalifa.
An original US Army letter of offer and acceptance was signed in May 2007 for Bahrain to purchase the helicopters through a foreign military sale, the first such sale for the UH-60M.
The first example was handed over in December last year. The Black Hawks are due to be deployed in border protection as well as defence of US and coalition strategic facilities in the kingdom, and will be completed at Sikorsky's Military Derivatives Completion Center in Horseheads, New York state.
