Rolls-Royce has appointed Euan Baird as chairman, replacing Sir Ralph Robins who retires on 31 January. Baird will join the board as a non-executive director on 1 November and will become non-executive chairman on 1 February, says R-R. Baird joins the UK company from Schlumberger, where he has been chairman and chief executive since 1986. Flight International presented Robins with a commemorative cutaway poster of two R-R engines at last week's Wings Club dinner in New York, where Robins received the club's Distinguished Achievement Award. The engines, the Conway from 1950s and the Trent 500 from 2000, represent the span of his career with the company.
