Dubai Aerospace Enterprise and Macquarie AirFinance-Ping An Leasing are the shortlisted final bidders for lessor AWAS, FlightGlobal understands.
DAE is regarded as the front-runner for the acquisition of AWAS by numerous industry sources, but some believe that Ping An – given the financial muscle it brings to its joint bid with Macquarie – could still emerge the winner.
AWAS parent Terra Firma received 17 bids for the lessor in the first round. Fourteen were for the platform, while three were non-platform bids, says a source familiar with the sale. Fewer than half the original bidders made it to the second round.
DAE, Macquarie and AWAS did not immediately respond to FlightGlobal's request for comment.
