Boeing Business Jets is to install Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics' latest HGS-4000 head-up guidance system as standard on the 737-700-based BBJ and 737-800-based BBJ2. The new head-up display will be capable of presenting raster-scanned images from enhanced or synthetic vision systems when they become available.

Boeing says it now has orders for "80 to 84" BBJs and BBJ2s, including the company's own aircraft and examples so far delivered to Executive Jet for the NetJets fractional ownership programme.

In addition to displaying primary flight information and providing instrument approach and landing guidance, the new HGS-4000 presents low-visibility take-off guidance and runway deceleration cueing. Additional features include a display of runway length remaining and an unusual-attitude recovery cue.

Meanwhile, the Honeywell/ Thales (formerly Racal) MCS-7000 satellite communication system has been certificated on the BBJ. The multi-channel system is upgradeable to provide access to Inmarsat's Switch64 high-speed data service for cabin e-mail and internet, and has the potential to connect with other satellite systems.
