The failed Beagle 2 mission's team of scientists and engineers has been rewarded with a leading role in the UK's involvement in Aurora, Europe's long term space exploration programme, and an endorsement by the UK government. The UK Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) has made Beagle 2 mission manager Dr Mark Sims the chairman of its committee for UK involvement in Aurora. Other members of the committee are also Beagle 2 veterans, including Professor Colin Pillinger.
