The Sabena receiver is to sell the Sabena Flight Academy (SFA) to Antwerp-based Ben Air Flight Academy (BAFA). The deal follows the sale of the former Belgian carrier's subsidiaries Sabena Catering, Sabena Cargo and Sabena Ground Handling late last month (Flight International, 2-8 July). BAFA has signed a preliminary agreement with the receiver and expects to finalise the deal next month. According to its terms, BAFA will take over SFA facilities in Brussels and at Scottsdale, Arizona, in addition to running its own base at Antwerp Deurne Airport. BAFA will only take over SFA's pilot training department, and not the type-rating division, since Airbus simulators based at Brussels Airport were owned by the Sabena airline arm, not SFA.
