Lockheed Aeronautical Systems will provide Belgium with the sensor package needed to verify compliance with the Open Skies Treaty. The Special Avionics Mission Strap-On Now (SAMSON) Pod will be used by Belgium and nine other countries. The surveillance device will be mounted on a Lockheed C-130 used to monitor the military activities of participating NATO and former Warsaw Pact countries. The system includes three Recon-Optical KS-87B framing film cameras, one Recon-Optical KS-116A Panoramic film camera and two video cameras.
