Israel's Bental Industries has developed electric motors weighing 0.5-5kg (1.1-11lb), capable of delivering up to 4kW of power for unmanned air vehicles, using permanent magnet brushless motors made of "unique materials" and components drawn from an international supplier base.

The motor can be combined with the controller electronics or used separately, depending on its size. The company considers integration one of the main system challenges. "[We] developed new tools and fixtures both for the manufacturing and for testing of the system," says Bental. New manufacturing methods had to be developed to overcome problems with assembling so many small components in a compact space.
