UK and US delegations will meet in Washington on 5 July to continue bilateral discussions after three days of "encouraging" talks in London in mid-June. The latest round, to amend the Bermuda 2 agreement, took place in "a good atmosphere" and dealt with "a wide range of issues", including proposals for phasing in liberalisation, says the UK Government. Earlier talks collapsed amid US accusations of UK protectionism and UK charges the USA was unwilling to compromise on key issues.
