Lufthansa Technik's US completions subsidiary BizJet International has delivered its first Airbus A318 Elite for a private customer.
The handover comes as LHT - designer of the A318 Elite interior - prepares to outfit the last of these types at its Hamburg, Germany site. This follows its decision to transfer all completion work for this VIP airliner to the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company.
BizJet is contracted to complete eight Elites, with work on the second already under way and scheduled for delivery in the middle of the year. The remaining six aircraft will be handed over at the end of 2013.
At its Hamburg site LHT has outfitted and delivered nine A318 Elites. The final aircraft will be handed over in the middle of the year allowing LHT to focus on the highly customised outfitting of narrow and widebody VIP airliners.
