BMI contests air services agreement complaint BMI British Midland has submitted a formal complaint to European Commission competition authorities contesting the legitimacy of the 1977 air services agreement that limits services from London Heathrow to the USA to American Airlines, British Airways, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic. BMI chairman Sir Michael Bishop says the agreement "prevents free competition". The agreement has come under increased scrutiny as BA and American have applied for US anti-trust immunity for their alliance.
