Boeing plans to narrow potential sites for 777X final and wing assembly by the end of the week and reach a final decision in early January, the company says in a letter to employees.
Boeing says it is moving forward with evaluating bids from 22 states for 54 sites.
The local leadership of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) rejected Boeing's latest offer to base the 777X and wing assembly in the Puget Sound area.
Though local IAM leaders have claimed Boeing withdrew its proposal, Boeing Commercial Airplanes chief executive Ray Conner says the offer was rejected and the company stands behind the work agreement.
