The Boeing-McDonnell Douglas merger was awaiting European Commission approval at presstime after Washington had cleared the deal in early July. Early indications were that Brussels would approve the deal to avert a trade war. Boeing is expected to make concessions on its exclusive deals with three US airlines and the US may allow the EC shared oversight in monitoring the merger.
