Boeing has flown the first turboshaft-powered A160T Hummingbird long-endurance unmanned helicopter. The UAV made a 12min hover flight on 15 June at Victorville, California. Boeing is building 10 A160Ts for the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and Special Operations Command. With a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207 driving its optimum-speed rotor, the UAV is expected to demonstrate more than 18h endurance for missions including persistent surveillance, communications relay and precision resupply.
