Spanish charter company Air Plus Comet is set to be launch customer for the Boeing 737-300 Special Performance (SP), the first 737 Classic variant to be equipped with Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) blended winglets. The first aircraft has been modified in Lisbon, Portugal, and will enter service this month following US Federal Aviation Administration certification on 30 May. The -300SP demonstrated block fuel savings of up to 4.5% against the standard -300, says Seattle-based APB.
