The US Federal Aviation Administration has selected Boeing for a $23 million contract to study advanced air traffic control technologies that will assist controllers and pilots during hijackings. Boeing's Air Traffic Management (ATM) group will develop concepts including a global satellite-based architecture, an integrated and secure information network, and secure, broadband two-way communications capability.
