Stonecipher to drive sales

Weeks after being named as Boeing's new president and chief executive, Harry Stonecipher revealed the momentous news of the launch of a new aircraft.

Stonecipher, who replaced chairman and chief executive Phil Condit, announced the go-ahead for the 7E7 Dreamliner in mid-December. Stonecipher, who is expected to usher in a more commercially oriented and aggressive sales approach, is no stranger to the airline community, says John De Regt of executive search firm Spencer Stuart.

Stonecipher led the former McDonnell Douglas until its merger with Boeing, and served as Boeing president and chief operating officer until he retired in 2002.
