Boeing offered details of its latest 747 concept, the 747 Advanced, which could operate with 5% lower seat-mile costs compared with current models. It has begun talking to airlines about a 440-seat aircraft that is slightly stretched compared to the 747-400 and has longer range. Breakthrough technologies being examined for the 7E7, such as new engines and composite materials, have prompted Boeing to update its 747 studies.
