Bill Boisture, the former president of NetJets, Gulfstream Aerospace and British Aerospace Corporate Jets, has taken over as president and chief executive of Hawker Beechcraft, ending Jim Schuster's two-year reign at the Wichita, Kansas-based manufacturer of business and general aviation aircraft.
During his tenure, Schuster - who announced his retirement in November 2008 - oversaw the certification of the midsize Hawker 900XP and first delivery of the composite Hawker 4000 after more than a decade under development.
Boisture's arrival comes as the deepening global financial crisis continues to pummel the business aviation market, causing a sharp rise in aircraft deferrals and cancellations, as well as a fall in the overall use of business aircraft.
The downturn has forced Hawker Beechcraft to eliminate 2,800 jobs this year - nearly 30% of the company's workforce.
