Bombardier plans to use a different paint system for its CSeries to that used for its other aircraft in a bid to achieve production savings.
The company is interested in a paint system that allows for ambient air drying, according to its vice-president of commercial aircraft programmes, Ben Boehm.
Unlike the method currently used, ambient air drying does not require an aircraft to remain in a sterile environment. After it is painted, Boehm says, the aircraft could be moved anywhere.
In addition to ambient air drying, the company is considering other opportunities to find production savings before the CSeries' design freeze.
