Bombardier is remaining silent on whether it will further slash its CRJ regional jet production rate, but management's decision could be announced at the firm's forthcoming fiscal 1Q earnings conference call.
"There have been no further adjustments to the production rate at this point," Bombardier Commercial Aircraft vice president, marketing Philippe Poutissou said today during a press briefing at the Regional Airline Association (RAA) convention in Milwaukee.
"We have a good backlog on the CRJ, so we do have a backlog that is part of our production plans at this point."
Bombardier in February revealed it is taking a hard look at its CRJ production rate, as orders remain depressed and customers seek delivery delays. At that time, Bombardier Aerospace chief operating officer Guy Hachey confirmed that the company had not yet filled out the CRJ's "entire skyline" - that is, the production plan - and was working with customers "to advance or delay a number of deliveries".
Poutissou today would not say if Bombardier has succeeded in filling out the skyline. A Bombardier spokeswoman notes that "if there is any major announcement", it could potentially be made at the earnings conference call on 2 June.
