Bombardier has secured production of the Learjet 85 business jet at its Wichita facility, in which it plans to invest $600 million. The agreement includes $27 million in bond financing from the state of Kansas, which will be invested in improvements that will be used to help build a new paint facility, customer delivery centre and production flight test facility, as well as to expand production hangars for the final assembly of the midsize business jet.

All primary structural components of the all-composite Learjet 85 will be manufactured in Querétaro, Mexico. These subassemblies will then be shipped to Wichita for final assembly, production flight testing and painting.

Learjet 85 deliveries are set to begin in the first quarter of 2013.
