Bombardier has selected GMR Aero Technic Limited as an Authorised Service Facility (ASF) for its Bombardier Q400 turboprops in India and the region.
The agreement represents the Canadian airframer’s first ASF for commercial aircraft in India, and is also the tenth in its strategic global network.
Effective from 11 February, GMR will perform line and heavy maintenance for the aircraft type at its base at Hyderabad International airport.
Bombardier says GMR’s 27,300 square-metre facility has been certified by EASA for line maintenance and by both EASA and India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation for heavy maintenance.
“GMR has a great reputation and is well positioned to meet the needs of our customers. I am very confident about the level of service our newly minted ASF will provide,” says Todd Young, Bombardier’s vice president of customer services.
Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet is the sole operator of Q400 aircraft in the country, operating 15 of the type.
