Bombardier has announced a $49 million order from start-up East Malaysian carrier Saeaga Airlines for a Canadair CRJ jet and two de Havilland Dash 8-200/300 turboprops. All three aircraft will be delivered by the end of the year, with options held on a further two Dash-8-300s. Saeaga plans to begin operations in January, with domestic flights planned between Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan and regional services to Brunei, the neighbouring Indonesian provinces of Kalimantan and Sulawesi and the Southern Philippines. Saeaga is a $59 million joint venture between Ekran Air and the Sabah and Sarawak state governments (Flight International, 8-14 November).
