Bombardier expects to validate the CS100's capability to conduct steep approaches at London City airport by the end of November, and gain certification to operate the CSeries variant there by "the turn of the year".
Setting out the targets during a briefing at the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) general assembly in Madrid, Bombardier's Ryan DeBrusk added: "I'm pleased to say that our validation process is ongoing, on track and slated to be completed in the coming weeks."
DeBrusk – who is vice-president of sales for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia and the CIS at Bombardier's commercial aircraft division – notes that "the timing was great" after expansion of London City was granted planning permission in July. "We're very proud and wish them best of luck in that," says DeBrusk.
He indicates that destinations as distant as Moscow could served from London City with a CS100, which he says offers "double the range" of aircraft currently operating from the UK capital's downtown airport.
