Bond Helicopters has sold the composite and structural repair arm of its Rotortech engineering subsidiary to manpower and aircraft maintenance provider IAP, to concentrate on its offshore and onshore helicopter business.

"We have split the company in two. We have moved the component repair and overhaul business from the Rotortech site in Cambridge [UK] to Aberdeen {Scotland] and formed Bond Overhaul Services," says Bond Helicopters financial director, John Cloggie.

The sale is driven by Bond's desire to make its helicopter operations more cost effective. "There is a huge drive to get the cost down in the helicopter market. By keeping the overhaul work in house to support our 170-strong helicopter fleet, this will strengthen our business," adds Cloggie.
