German design studio Brabus Private Aviation - an offshoot of the long-established automotive specialist - aims to secure the first order for one of its bespoke business jet interiors in the first half of 2013.
Launched at the EBACE trade show in May, the company is partnering with Ruag, PrivatAir and Happy Design Studio to produce the one-off fit-outs.
Discussions concerning securing a launch customer are "progressing", says chief executive Constantin Buschmann, with Brabus's target being to undertake two to three projects per year.
However, Buschmann adds that these projects need to be carefully selected to fit the company's ideals, saying: "They have to be very well chosen, otherwise we will have filled up a slot which we might have a better use for."
Originally conceived as suitable for any large-cabin business jet - "from a [Bombardier] Global XRS upwards" - Brabus has since expanded its offering to include helicopter interiors. Initial designs focus on the Eurocopter EC145, but the company is confident it could perform a similar completion on any rotorcraft.
A project will take between three and six months to complete, says Buschmann, depending on its complexity.
"It's not just something you can do in a week," he adds.
